Meet at 10:30 at Croxley underground station WD3 3DD. Croxley is on the Metropolitan line. The station is a 10-minute walk away from the Common. There is no designated car park for Croxley Common Moor, but local parking is available within Croxley Green.
Croxley Common Moor is a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI) and a Local Nature Reserve. It is legally protected for its diverse plant communities. No fertilisers have ever been added and it has acid and neutral grassland. The site also contains a rich variety of birds and insects. We should see a wide variety of plants including Little Mouse-Ear Cerastium semidecandrum, Dyer’s Greenweed Genista tinctoria, and Petty Whin G. anglica, Common and Greater Bird’s-foot-trefoil Lotus corniculatus and L. pedunculatus and many different thistles Welted, Musk,
Marsh, Spear and Creeping Carduus crispus, C. nutans, Cirsium palustre, C. vulgare and C. arvense.
