Meet village car park on Dyehouse Lane near the Thor’s Den children’s playground, what3words ///control.hairspray.upstairs for a prompt start at 10.30am.

Note change of parking venue.

Thursley NNR is one of Surrey’s largest fragments of heathland, with bog, dry heath and woodland. Plants we are likely to see include: Round-leaved Sundew Drosera rotundifolia, Oblong-leaved Sundew Drosera intermedia, Heath Spotted-orchid Dactylorhiza maculata, Bog Asphodel Narthecium ossifragum, Royal Fern Osmunda regalis, Marsh Clubmoss Lycopodiella inundata and White Beak-sedge Rhynchospora alba. The heathers; Ling Calluna vulgaris, Bell Heather Erica cinerea and Cross-leaved Heath Erica tetralix will be looking good. The site is well known for its birds, reptiles and invertebrates so you may wish to bring binoculars. Common Lizards can be found on the boardwalk, which won the Ramblers Association Britain’s Favourite Path 2024.

There are a few small hills. The paths are mainly sandy. We may go to wet areas not served by the boardwalk.
