Presidents’ Award Announced

| Helen Dignum

The Presidents’ Award is given each year by the Presidents of the Botanical Society of Britain & Ireland (BSBI) and the Wild Flower Society to acknowledge the year’s most useful contribution to the understanding of the flowering plants and ferns of Britain and Ireland. The Award is usually for a book but might also be for a major scientific paper, discovery or outstanding exhibit. This year’s Award has gone to horticulturist, journalist and broadcaster Alys Fowler for her book ‘Peatlands’.

The Award was presented to Alys on 29 November at the 2025 British and Irish Botanical Conference, held at Edge Hill University where Paul is Professor of Botany. Carol Armstrong, representing Sir Ghilean Prance, President of the Wild Flower Society, joined Paul onstage to present the Award to Alys.
