Thursday 25th June morning: Quarry Moor Nature Reserve, Ripon, HG4 2SE

Meet at 10.30 at the Quarry Moor Nature Reserve car park Grid Ref: SE310694. The entrance is on the roundabout where the Harrogate Rd diverges from the A61, on the southern edge of Ripon. In 1946, Alderman Thomas Spence donated this piece of land to the people of Ripon and it has been held in trust for their benefit ever since. It was designated an SSSI in 1986. The underlying magnesian limestone supports a rich flora, in particular, the rare parasitic Thistle Broomrape Orobanche reticulata.
Thursday 25th June afternoon: Burton Leonard Lime Quarries YWT, Harrogate, North Yorkshire, HG3 3TE; Grid Ref: SE324631.

Meet at 2.00 on Burton Leonard village green, at the junction of Scarah Lane and Station Lane, Grid Ref: SE32536378. We need to park in the village of Burton Leonard. Meet on the village green and then take a short walk to the Reserve. Burton Leonard Reserve belongs to Yorkshire Wildlife Trust. Interesting species include Rare Spring-sedge Carex ericetorum, and Field Garlic Allium oleraeceum.
Friday 26th June: Hackfall Wood, Grewelthorpe, North Yorkshire

Meet at 10.30 at the free Woodland Trust car park, HG4 3BS; Grid Ref: SE23087752, approx. 0.5. miles before Grewelthorpe Village. Hackfall Wood is an SSSI owned by the Woodland Trust. It covers an area of ancient woodland, growing on a mix of acidic and calcareous soils with many wet flushes. Interesting species include Thin-spiked Wood-sedge Carex strigosa, Herb-Paris Paris quadrifolia, Wood Fescue Drymochloa sylvatica, Common Cow-wheat Melampyrum pratense and many ferns including Polystichum x bicknellii with its parents P.aculeatum and P setiferum.
