Meet at 10:30 by Chestnuts Kiosk café TQ478787 (toilets nearby). Abbey Wood Station, ten minutes’ walk away, is served by the Elizabeth Line and the North Kent Line. Public transport recommended as parking in the area is expensive (£15 per day) except for Blue Badge holders. There are cheaper car parks (around £5 per day) a mile away in Belvedere. On the date of our visit the Wild Daffodils Narcissus pseudonarcissus for which this site is renowned should be in flower, along with Wood Anemone Anemone nemorosa, Hairy Wood-rush Luzula pilosa, Early Dog-violet Viola reichenbachiana, Rue-leaved Saxifrage Saxifraga tridactylites and a few early Bluebells Hyacinthoides non-scripta. In addition to the ancient woodland, we will explore the heathland, ponds, and Abbey ruins.
